LIFT (Living In Faith Together)
Event Location: Westminster Presbyterian Church – West Hartford, Connecticut
We gathered as an all-church, intergenerational group to worship, learn, sing, serve and have fun together. The focus of the event was Matthew 25:31-46 with an emphasis on welcoming the stranger. We used several of the fabulous PYT resources, in particular the Worship & Prayer Guide. The movement prayer was accessible for all ages and we showed the video of Rev. Peggy Jean Craig’s reflection. We heard from a guest speaker, a local woman leading a team that is helping a Syrian refugee family resettle in our town. And we used the grant money to purchase items to create 15 large housewarming baskets filled with household necessities, laundry and cleaning supplies. These baskets were donated to South Park Inn, a shelter that provides respite for those experiencing homelessness in Hartford, CT (4 miles away) and also helps folks find stable housing. We ended our evening with a wonderful time of dinner and fellowship together. As the photos show, the PYT “When Did We See You?” hats, glasses and other swag items were a huge hit!
