Presbyterian Youth Triennium production team applications open until Sept. 30
Planning team member: ‘This is one, if not the, best things we do as a denomination’
by Beth Waltemath | Presbyterian News Service
Applications for the 2025 Presbyterian Youth Triennium production team are now being accepted. This team consists of youth and adults who share a passion for youth ministry and work alongside staff to refine the many layers of Triennium and make this large-scale event happen.
According to past and present leaders of Presbyterian Youth Triennium, joining the production team is an incredible opportunity to serve the church, develop as a leader, form lifelong friendships, problem-solve creatively, laugh and work hard, and deepen one’s relationship with God.
“We start fresh every three years with a new theme, and we are always looking for new perspectives and voices,” said Gina Yeager-Buckley, mission coordinator in the Office of Presbyterian Youth and Triennium. “We strongly encourage individuals who are Black, Indigenous, people of color, and/or immigrants to apply for the 2025 Production Team.”
Presbyterian Youth Triennium shares resources and talks up formation of its 2025 production team
PYT will soon make a formal announcement on dates and locations for its upcoming gatherings
by Mike Ferguson | Presbyterian News Service
LOUISVILLE — Together with Triennium registrar Analise Brown, Gina Yeager-Buckley, who’s the mission coordinator for Presbyterian Youth and Triennium, said Triennium staff is gearing up to launch “an exciting and busy season” which will include a formal announcement this fall about the location and other details of the 2025 and 2028 events, among the most transformational gatherings the PC(USA) offers.
Brown and Yeager-Buckley were the guests last week on the Office of Christian Formation’s Faith Formation Leader Connection webinar, which is held twice each month via Zoom. The next is set for 8-9 p.m. Eastern Time on Aug. 22. Register here.
“It’s fun to see the faces and dogs I know, our furry Christian education friends,” Yeager-Buckley said with a smile. “We love to talk about youth ministry and think about what’s happening and what you’re seeing and the resources you are finding helpful, relevant and fiery.”
Brown and Yeager-Buckley discussed the formation of the 2025 PYT Production Team, youth and adults who share a passion for youth ministry. “There’s nothing like being behind the scenes to see an event that size [up to 5,000 youth and young adults] come together,” Brown said. The deadline to apply is Sept. 15. Learn more about applying to join the production team here.
A look at how faith communities and mid councils are making Triennium their own
In Nebraska, they’re calling their event ‘INSTEADIUM’
LOUISVILLE — Now that Presbyterian Youth Triennium Beyond events are being scheduled, Presbyterian News Service visited with PYT director Gina Yeager-Buckley to learn how new free online resources help young people go deeper into the theme of PYT2022, which was cancelled because of Covid.
PNS: What is PYT Connect and PYT Beyond?
Gina Yeager-Buckley: PYT Connect are resources that connect youth, youth leaders and other participants to the Matthew 25 message and the PYT theme “When Did We See You?” PYT Beyond is event- and gathering-oriented. It takes the Matthew 25 vision and PYT theme into the world and community with our hands and feet — into the intentions of our daily lives and rhythms. PYT Connect resources can be used at the PYT Beyond events because they come from the same theme grid and theological context. The actual events will be a hive of incredible content, complete with interactive prayer stations, leader training, Bible study, and worship — along with music, parties and visuals.
The talent behind the trio of Triennium resources
Gina Yeager-Buckley and friends are the guests on ‘Between Two Pulpits’
LOUISVILLE — After sharing last month the free downloadable resources created to inform possibilities for Triennium-related celebrations in the local context, Gina Yeager-Buckley jumped at the chance Monday to bring along some of the talented people who created the resources related to group study, recreation, and worship and prayer — and are on the verge of creating even more resources in the weeks to come.
The three resources published to date can be downloaded here, here and here.
“I’m more excited about these three resources and what’s coming next than about anything we’ve done in a long time,” Yeager-Buckley told Dr. Bill McConnell, interim director of Special Offerings, during Monday’s edition of Between Two Pulpits, which returned after being on hiatus for General Assembly. Yeager-Buckley is Associate for Presbyterian Youth and Triennium. Hear the 30-minute conversation here.
‘So much more than an event’
Timed to coincide with the dates the 2022 Triennium was to have been held, three online guides are published for local use
LOUISVILLE — On the very days Presbyterian Youth Triennium was to be gathering in Indianapolis, Indiana before the highly anticipated event fell victim to Covid, three online resource guides have been published so that youth and their leaders can participate in their own way and at their own pace.
“One day I thought, ‘July 24th! Let’s launch on the day that PYT 2022 was to launch!” said Gina Yeager-Buckley, Associate for Youth and Triennium. A mantra of the PYT team has been “that our call for this theme ‘When Did We See You?’ was so much more than an event,” she said. “The call now was to launch this theme into the hearts and minds of our young Presbyterians.”
